At the end of last year, BMW presented the next-generation BMW X2 and the electric BMW iX2, reflecting the BMW brand’s goal of sustainable development and the popularity of electromobility in the automotive industry, while maintaining premium class comfort and sporty character.
The new BMW electric car has arrived in Latvia, and BMW’s authorized representative “Inchcape Motors Latvija” predicts that such a model suitable for a wide range of drivers will contribute to the increase in sales of BMW electric cars in 2024.
The demand for electric cars in the Baltics is growing – last year we sold 52% more electric car models than in 2022. The increase in demand is fueled by the expansion of BMW’s model range in various segments, starting with the iX1 compact crossover and ending with the i5 business-class sedan and the i7 limousine-class model. The new iX2 is BMW’s seventh electric car model, which will further expand the options for drivers and, in our opinion, will contribute to the share of the Baltic electrified car market.

Up to 449 km on a single charge
The new iX2 debuts in Latvia with the iX2 xDrive30 model, and BMW has already announced the launch of another fully electric iX2 model in the summer of 2024, information about which will follow.

This electric car model is powered by two electric motors with a total maximum power of up to 230 kW/313 hp. The BMW iX2 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, while its top speed is 180 km/h. The impressive 64.8 kWh battery of this model allows the car to travel up to 449 km on a single charge.
Coupe-style sporty crossover
The fully electric BMW iX2 belongs to the new Sports Activity Coupé (SAC) in the model range. This model has undergone a series of improvements, starting with a sportier and more pronounced coupe-style body and modern design elements, ending with integrated modern technologies and autonomous driving solutions.
The body of the BMW iX2 marks the latest BMW design guidelines, which include the BMW Iconic Glow elliptical grille lighting and LED lights. BMW Iconic Glow the contoured grille lighting is also available for the first time in a BMW compact class car. The continuous curve of the roofline is BMW Sports Activity Coupé (SAC) concept car’s typical coupe silhouette.

The rear of the car has also become more expressive and progressive, thanks to the impressive bodywork, modern and innovative LED headlights and wide rear wheel arches.
Although the iX2 belongs to the compact car class, it has a really spacious interior. Compared to the previous generation, the new model has grown significantly in size – almost 20 cm in length, 2 cm in width, and 6.4 cm in height. On the other hand, the widened wheel arches and thresholds provide not only more space in the interior of the car, but also in the luggage compartment. By opening the new electric car’s electrically operated boot lid and folding down the rear seats, the boot capacity can be increased from 525 to 1,400 litres.
The car interior becomes a movie or game zone
As with all new models, the iX2 also includes the latest digital solutions and services. A large curved BMW screen is installed in front of the driver. During driving breaks AirConsole the program turns this screen into a gaming console, and it can also be used to watch movies and TV series.

For an additional fee, a BMW projection screen is available, which provides the driver with important information without taking his eyes off the road, as well as active cruise control with Stop & Go and remote theft recorder functions. Safety is also provided by an additional airbag that is integrated between the driver and the front passenger as standard.
The standard equipment of the iX2 also includes a forward collision warning system, a speed maintenance system with automatic braking, a lane control system, a parking assist system with a reversing camera, as well as other useful systems.
The optional Driving Assistant Professional keeps the iX2 in its lane and maintains a safe distance at speeds of up to 180 km/h. The BMW iX2 also offers a feature that is particularly useful in traffic jams – the ability to automatically stop and resume movement when necessary. On the other hand, the high beam assist system will be especially useful when driving in the dark on the highway – the driver has the opportunity to move while keeping the high beams on, because BMW will automatically protect other road users from being dazzled.
