BMW in Vision Circular – Here is BMW’s future electric car

(Elbil24, Munich): At the IAA car show in Munich, most of it is about electric vehicles and other means of transport with zero emissions. The little that is shown by cars with internal combustion engines are mostly models that already exist in the market, in addition to a bunch of vintage cars whose jewelry stands here and there.

And while the focus is largely on upcoming electric car models for 2022 and 2023, several manufacturers are easing the veil and demonstrating innovations, ideas and concepts that are far in the future.

Will be a leader in sustainable car production

One of these is BMW, which among other things shows off the concept car i Vision Circular. The car is a compact four-seater city car with a length of four meters, where everything of aluminum, steel, glass, plastic and other materials are recycled and renewable.

And this is precisely the main purpose of the concept car, to demonstrate how BMW envisages being a leader in sustainable car production – at a time when environmental protection is becoming more and more important, while many expect a shortage of resources and rising commodity prices.

The design is interesting anyway. Although there is hardly a car that looks exactly like this, we know from experience that many design elements and ideas on the concept cars will often be found in future production models.

Easy to disassemble

The car is, among other things, designed with the parts in mind to be easy to disassemble, sort and recycle. Glue, for example, has been replaced with smart splicing techniques, which can easily be pushed apart on the day the car is ready for recycling.

Varnishes have been replaced with different degrees of heat treatment of the surfaces, to create different colors.

Emblems and logos that are normally glued to the body are instead engraved with laser.

The tires are made of natural rubber combined with recycled rubber particles – just to name a few.
