BMW creates ‘128ti’ competitor for VW Golf GTI

BMW has added three new modifications to its range of Series 1 models, the most interesting of which is the “128ti”. This vehicle is already equipped as standard with the M Sport suspension and braking system, as well as a 265-horsepower engine and a self-locking differential. The BMW 128ti will compete in the market with the VW Golf GTI and other sport hatchbacks.

In the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 128ti fills the gap between the 120i (178 hp, 280 Nm) and the all-wheel drive M135i xDrive (306 hp, 450 Nm). Unlike the “M” version, the new “ie” or “Turismo Internazionale” is front-wheel drive. This modification also has unique design solutions that distinguish it from other versions of the 1st series.

The BMW 128ti is equipped with a two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 265 horsepower and 400 Newton meters of torque. The power unit is clutched with an eight-speed “Steptronic Sport” automatic transmission. From the ground up to 100 km / h, the sport hatchback will accelerate in 6.1 seconds (compared to the M135i xDrive in 4.8 seconds).

The BMW 128ti will go on sale in November and cost Germany from 41,575 euros, which is seven thousand euros cheaper than the M135i xDrive, but four thousand more expensive than the VW Golf GTI.
