Berlin Marathon 2024: start, time and program

The start and finish area is again on Straße des 17. Juni. The Berlin Marathon starts this Sunday Main competition at 9:15 a.m. in four starting waves. The competition for handbikers (elite) starts at 8:50 a.m., the wheelchair riders start at 8:56 a.m. and the handbikers at 8:59 a.m.

Route: This is how the Berlin Marathon runs

Basically, nothing has changed in the route of the Berlin Marathon compared to last year. The runners start again on the Street of June 17th. This is also where the marathon finish area is located. From the Straße des 17. Juni, the runners have to go north via Ernst-Reuter-Platz to Alt-Moabit and then east via Otto-von-Bismarck-Allee, Reinhardstraße, Torstraße and Karl-Marx-Allee to Strausberger Platz.

The route then leads south via Lichtenberger Straße, Heinrich-Heine-Straße, Moritzplatz, Kottbusser Tor and Kottbusser Damm to Hermannplatz in Neukölln, past Hasenheide and along Gneisenaustraße. The athletes head west via Yorckstrasse, Grunewaldstrasse and Martin-Luther-Strasse to the Schöneberg town hall. Inwards the city it goes via Friedenau, Schmargendorf, Hohenzollerndamm to Konstanzer Straße, Kurfürstendamm and Wittenbergplatz. The route leads to Potsdamer Platz via Kleiststrasse and Potsdamer Strasse. The last stretch runs along Leipziger Straße to Gendarmenmarkt and across Unter den Linden street through the Brandenburg Gate to the finish line Street of June 17th. The top athletes in the men’s race are expected to reach the finish line after a good two hours.

Berlin Marathon 2024: Broadcast live on TV & stream

Many marathon fans are wondering where they can watch the important running event live on stream and on TV. There is good news here. RTL will host the Berlin Marathon 2024 on Sunday show live on free TV. The Berlin Marathon can be followed in a paid stream on RTL+. Participants and favorites at the Berlin Marathon 2024

Last year, Tigist Assefa set a new record for women with a fantastic time of 2:11:53 hours. For men, Eliud Kipchoge’s world record at the Berlin Marathon two years ago still stands with a time of 2:01:09 hours.

Some top stars from the scene are expected in Berlin again this year. The two top runners Eliud Kipchoge and Kenenisa Bekele are not there, but they are Kibiwott Kandie and Ronald Korir from Kenya and the Ethiopian Tadese Takele absolute elite runners who should fight for victory among themselves. In the women’s race there will be a duel for victory between Tigist Section (Ethiopia) and Rosemary Wanjiru (Kenya) expected.
