While electric car users are trying to prove the ability of some models to go 1000 km on a single charge, British blogger Joe Achilles has made it clear that you can go much further with diesel.
Achilles and his partner traveled 1,652 km from London to Madrid with a BMW 730d, showing an average consumption of 3.6 l. per 100 km, although the fuel consumption indicated in the manufacturer’s technical data is 5.5 liters. The blogger managed to achieve such a result using the EcoPro driving mode, which saves fuel as much as possible, for example, which is possible by disconnecting the engine from the box and allowing the car to move in rolling mode. The trip lasted 22 hours and at the end of it the on-board computer showed that with the remaining amount of fuel it would be possible to travel another 155 km. This means that the bloggers would have traveled more than 1,800 km with one tank of fuel.
Achilles has repeatedly proven that diesel cars are ideal for long-distance travel. In January 2021, he drove a BMW 730Ld almost 1,450 kilometers without refueling with an average speed of 100.9 kilometers per hour and an average fuel consumption of 4.5 liters.
