BMV closes positive week; Walmex and América Móvil boosted the index on the day

The Mexican stock exchange (BMV) ended the session with gains this Friday and thus closed the week with a positive balance. The local stock market moved in line with its peers Wall Street, with investors awaiting signals on the next steps to be taken by the Federal Reserve (Fed).

The benchmark index S&P/BMV IPC, made up of the shares of the 35 issuers with the highest value by capitalization and liquidity in Mexico, advanced 0.86% to close at 51,490.94 points. Against a closing record of 51,113.85 units the previous Friday, the BMV index accumulated a gain of 0.74 percent.

Within the benchmark, most stocks traded at a profit, with 23 stocks in green, 11 in red and one unchanged. Among the values ​​with advances, those of the GAP airport stood out, with 2.60%; Liverpool, with 2.25%, and Coca-Cola Femsa, which moved 1.82 percent.

On the other hand, one of the positive factors that boosted the local stock market was the advance of Walmex, the largest firm by capitalization of the S & P / BMV IPC, and America Movil, second. The retailer gained 1.80% to a record high of 70.36 pesos, and América Móvil, 1.53% to finish at the level of 17.21 pesos per title.

The index FTSE BIVA, main of the Institutional Stock Exchange (Biva), the second local stock market, closed the session with an advance of 0.84%, which ended the week at 1,057.86 units. Against a record of 1,049.26 units last Friday, Biva’s main index accumulated an advance of 0.82 percent.
