The Federal Ministry for Art, Culture, Public Service and Sport is funding eleven new, digital film projects with around 250,000 euros in 2021.
Vienna (OTS) – The film department of the Federal Ministry for Art, Culture, Public Service and Sport (BMKÖS) supports innovative projects with a digital focus as part of the “Pixel, Bytes + Film” program and accompanies the selected film artists with professional input from the film and creative industries. Eleven new film projects are being funded with a volume of around 250,000 euros.
“The digital change is continuously influencing the production and reception of contemporary art – recently intensified by the pandemic. New media and expanded technological possibilities offer high artistic innovation potential. I am delighted that we can offer targeted support for the scene with ‘Pixel, Bytes + Film’, ”said State Secretary for Art and Culture Andrea Mayer.
For the year 2021, a jury of experts selected eleven projects that deal with content and form with new media and digital technologies of image production such as animation, AI, XR, 3D motion capturing and many more. A production budget of up to 25,000 euros is made available for each project.
The selected projects come from: AROBOTA +, Adnan Balcinovic, Uwe Brunner, Enar de Dios Rodríguez, Eva Egermann, Rainer Kohlberger, Rebecca Merlic, Katharina Rabl, Marthin Rozo, Katharina Swoboda and Clara Trischler.
The expert jury included Margarete Jahrmann (University of Applied Arts, Zurich University of the Arts), Kay Meseberg (ARTE GEIE), Sebastian Sorg (XR HUB Bavaria), Judith Revers (ORF III) and Antonia Rahofer (BMKÖS).
The “Pixel, Bytes + Film” funding program has been responding to the great interest of artists since 2011 in further developing cinematic forms of expression and opening up new formats for presentation and exploitation. The media partner ORF III opens its archive for artistic research, provides advice, editing facilities including cutters and presents the resulting works in the TV program “Artist in Residence” and in the ORF TVthek.
