Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) provides an analysis of the earthquake and tsunami in Turkey. BMKG said, earthquake it is a tectonic earthquake with a depth of 10 km on the seabed.
“Friday, October 30, 2020 at 18.51.26 WIB, the Dodecanese Islands region, Greece was rocked by a tectonic earthquake. The results of the BMKG analysis showed that this earthquake had parameters with a magnitude of Mw = 7.1. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at coordinates 37.89 North Latitude and 26.84 East Longitude. located in the sea at a distance of 17 km northwest of Samos, Greece at a depth of 10 km, “said Head of the Earthquake and Tsunami Center of BMKG Rahmat Triyono, in his statement, Friday (10/30/2020).
The quake was felt in Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria and North Mekodina. Not only that, this earthquake caused a tsunami in several locations.
“The shock of this earthquake was felt in Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria and North Macedonia. This earthquake caused a local tsunami that was recorded at tide gauge stations in Greece, namely Syros station ± 8 cm, Kos ± 7 cm, Plomari ± 5 cm and Kos Marina ± 4 cm, while the tide gauge station in Turkey has no data, “he said.
It is known, victims due to earthquake magnitude (M) 7 in Turkey to Greece continue to increase. Until now there have been 4 people died and 120 people were injured as a result of the earthquake.
As reported by the Associated Press, Friday (10/30/2020), the earthquake occurred between the Turkish coast and the Greek island of Samos. The earthquake has so far killed 4 people and injured hundreds.
Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said on his twitter that four people were killed in Izmir and 120 others were injured. He said 38 ambulances, two ambulance helicopters and 35 medical rescue teams were working in the Izmir region.
