For the first time since 2013, the legendary British band Blur can be admired in our country. Tonight they play at the Lokerse Feesten. To secure a place at the front of the festival site, the first fans showed up at 11 o’clock in the morning.

No scenes like last year at the Grote Kaai for Louis Tomlinson’s performance, when fans stayed overnight on the Durmedijk and a queue formed early in the morning, but the first fans for Blur showed up just before noon.
“I am a huge fan of their frontman Damon Albarn, if he plays in the area, I will check it out anyway,” says Annika Lelivelt (37) from Deventer in the Netherlands, who already took post at the entrance gates of the festival at 2 p.m. “I have only known Blur for a year and a half, but I am now a big fan. I would like to experience the performance from the front row,” says Anne De Wilde (20) from Nijmegen, the Netherlands.

China
A few fans are also posted at the box office of the festival. “I’m originally from China, but I’m studying in Paris. There I came into contact with Blur’s music and I would like to see them perform live”, says Morph (25). Next to her, Yuqing is reading a book. “My roots are also in China, but I currently live in Barcelona. I am happy to make the move to Lokeren for Blur.”
The Lokerse Feesten are taking extra measures to cope with the crowds this evening. For example, one-way traffic is being introduced at the cash registers to improve circulation. On the sold-out opening night with performances by Merol and Goldband, among others, frustration arose among various festival visitors who had to wait a long time before they could get their hands on their festival wristbands.
The festival evening with Blur is of course also sold out. The band also managed to sell out London’s 90,000-seat Wembley Stadium on two occasions during its current tour. Blur will play on the Grote Kaai tonight at 10.15 pm.
