LAUBACH (pm). Laubach is preparing to host the 29th “Blues, Schmus & Apfelmus” festival from August 23 to 25, 2024 in the idyllic castle park. The festival, which is considered one of the largest and oldest blues festivals in Germany, attracts thousands of visitors every year.
30 bands on four stages
This year, around 30 music groups will perform on four stages, presenting an impressive range of musical styles, from classic blues to rhythm’n’blues to delta blues and Chicago blues. Visitors can look forward to a diverse line-up put together by curator Corinna Bonnekamp. International artists and local musicians will be equally represented, and bands that present blues in dialect will also find their place on the stage.
Opening with Özgür Hazar’s Blues Syndicate
The festival begins on Friday, August 23, 2024, with a performance by Özgür Hazar’s Blues Syndicate, the winners of the Belgian Blues Challenge 2022. Özgür Hazar, who lived in Philadelphia and got to know many facets of the blues, combines various blues styles with his own compositions in his program.
Culinary highlights and demonstration wine presses
In addition to the music, the festival also offers culinary delights based on apples. Visitors can enjoy apple pie, apple sauce, apple schnapps and, of course, apple wine. A special part of the program is the demonstration pressing, where you can see live how apples are processed into juice. In return for a donation, visitors can taste the freshly pressed apple products and take them home with them.
Workshops and activities
There are various workshops for interested visitors, including “Ukulele: Fingerpicking Blues” and “Basic Jazz & Swing Guitar”. These workshops are free and open to festival visitors without registration. There will also be a classic car meet-up, where drivers and passengers of vehicles built before 1981 will receive free entry to the festival.
Competition: Win 3×2 tickets
As part of the festival, 3×2 tickets worth 27 euros each will be raffled off. The competition takes place on our Instagram channel.
