Car in full fire

Mönchengladbach-BAB, 05/27/2022, 8:19 p.m., BAB 52 AK Neersen (ots) –

For an unknown reason, a car caught fire in the area of the Neersen motorway junction on Friday. When the fire department arrived, the car was already fully engulfed in flames and the occupants were being looked after by first responders. Further medical care and support was not necessary. An attempt by the first responders to extinguish the fire using a powder extinguisher was unsuccessful due to the advanced stage of the fire.

A squad wearing respiratory protection used the fire engine’s rapid attack tube to fight the fire and extinguished parts of the adjacent vegetation as well as the car. A fire-fighting water supply was ensured by the fire-fighting vehicle.

The tangent in the direction of Neersen and Krefeld had to be closed for the duration of the operation.

The fire engine from Fire and Rescue Station I (Neuwerk) and the tank fire engine from the Technology and Logistics Center (Holt) were deployed. The Neuwerk unit of the volunteer fire brigade was also alerted as a precaution, but was not deployed.

Head of operations: Chief Fire Chief Simon Scheepers
