Müllheim-Hügelheim: Pedelec driver and cyclist collide head-on – witnesses wanted

Freiburg (ots) –

On Wednesday afternoon, May 25th, 2022, at around 3:10 p.m., a 23-year-old cyclist and a 67-year-old pedelec rider collided in the Hügelheim district of Müllheim on Basler Strasse (Bundesstrasse 3). The cyclist was riding on the shared footpath and cycle path along Basler Strasse in the direction of Heitersheim. The pedelec driver came towards him, whereupon both parties involved collided head-on at number 21. The 67-year-old suffered serious injuries in the collision and had to undergo emergency surgery. A rescue helicopter was deployed. The cyclist sustained minor injuries. Material damage of around 500 euros was caused to both wheels. The Freiburg traffic police (Tel. 0761/882-3100) have started the investigation and are looking for witnesses who can provide information about the course of the accident.
