On Saturday, February 12th, 2022, shortly after 10:00 a.m., a truck including a trailer with Portuguese registration left the roadway on the BAB 5 to the right just before the Neuenburg interchange. He was heading south.

According to the current status of the investigation, the truck broke through the guardrail and came to a standstill in an adjacent wooded area. In connection with the collision, the tank of the tractor unit was ruptured and diesel leaked out.

The accident site is in a water protection area. In addition to three radio patrols from the police, emergency services from the fire brigade and the road maintenance department are on duty.

The soil hitherto affected by the diesel is currently being removed – so far there is no evidence of an impending environmental hazard.

The southern lane of the BAB 5 is currently used as a single lane. There is currently a backlog of about four kilometers.

As of 11:00 a.m., it is not yet possible to say how long the disabilities will last. Further traffic restrictions cannot be ruled out until the truck is finally recovered.
