CLEVELAND, Ohio, USA (AP) — Friday night’s game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Cleveland Guardians has been postponed due to rain.
The Guardians have had four home games canceled due to inclement weather this season. Friday’s game was postponed 3:30 hours before the first scheduled pitch.
The teams will hold a doubleheader, Cleveland’s third of the season at Progressive Field, on Saturday beginning at 2:10 p.m. Toronto’s Kevin Gausman (2-1, 2.27 ERA) was scheduled for a starting matchup with Shane Bieber (1-1, 2.45) on Friday night.
Steven Kwan’s first major league homer gave Cleveland a 6-5 victory in Thursday’s series opener, most of which was played in relentless rain. The Guardians have won five of their last six games after losing seven in a row.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Alejandro Kirk homered for Toronto, which has lost three of its last four meetings.
Cleveland’s game against San Diego on Tuesday was also rained out, leading to a doubleheader on Wednesday. The Guardians’ games against the Chicago White Sox on April 18 and 19 were also postponed.
