Blue goods mass – Shaw Local

For the publisher:

A special blue mass was held at St Patrick’s Church on September 11 to honor all of our first responders. The celebrant was Father Matt Lamoureux, parish priest. First responders from the area participated in the ceremonial uniforms. Yorkville Police Chief Jim Jensen and Deputy Chief Behr Pfizenmaier did a great job getting the message across to all the police and firefighters in the area.

Thanks to the Aurora Police Department and Yorkville American Post 489 for providing the Color Guard and for presenting the colors as the congregation recited the pledge of allegiance. Thanks to Bishop Roger L. Kaffer Assembly # 3232 who provided the Honor Guard of the Knights of Columbus, led by Illinois State District Marshals Ty Simmons and David Wokem.

St. Patrick Men’s Club and Yorkville Knights of Columbus, God’s Divine Mercy Council n. 14463 provided food and drink at the reception after Mass. Special thanks to Pat and Mike Engelhardt and the Lady Knights Auxiliary for preparing and serving refreshments.

Finally, thanks to Nelson Funeral Home for the beautiful prayer cards to St. Michael the Archangel, patron saint of the police, and St. Florian, patron saint of firefighters. The delicious pizza served at the reception was made possible with the help of Papa John’s in Yorkville.

To all first responders, we say: thank you for your service.

God bless us all and God bless America.
