Blue Firefly Studio’s Roguelike Action Game “UDO” to be Released on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch on February 1st

On January 23rd, publisher Short N Sweet announced the release of Blue Firefly Studio’s roguelike action game “UDO” was announced to be distributed on February 1st. Compatible platforms are PC (Steam)/Nintendo Switch.

“UDO” is a roguelike action game where you go down a vertical hole with a drill in hand. In the world of this work, a giant mining company called UDO Corp is developing a mysterious planet and sending its own workers to it. However, the area is an extremely dangerous environment with an unknown ecosystem. UDO Corp. repeatedly brings in new workers when workers die. In other words, it seems to be a style of work where you repeatedly die and try again.

In this work, the player becomes a worker and goes down a stage in a vertical hole that continues deep underground. The structure of the stages that advance through vertical scrolling is automatically generated each time you play. Players are equipped with a large drill that can be used to dig through fragile ground, and can also be used as a weapon to eliminate enemy alien creatures. Hold the drill facing down and step on it, or dash to the side and stab it to defeat it.

It also looks like he will be making full use of drill actions to avoid dangers such as traps placed on the stage. In the gameplay footage, there are almost no scenes in which the player walks on the ground, and instead they are seen bouncing down the stage with the drill. The style of gameplay is vaguely reminiscent of Downwell, and the player’s skills will be tested.

There are four ecosystems on the planet that is the stage. There will probably be stages with different types of enemies and environments waiting for you. It seems that some sort of reward is hidden on the stage. In addition, 36 types of skills, 5 types of drills, and 18 types of character skins are also available. Skills such as slowing down the flow of time and becoming invisible to enemies through camouflage can be seen in the released trailer. These may become permanent upgrades.

“UDO” is a PC (Steam)/Scheduled to be released on February 1st for Nintendo Switch. It is also planned to be released for PlayStation/Xbox platforms in the future, although the timing has not been determined.
