Levi, son of Henry’s friend Solomon Morganthall, is found stabbed to death. The Morganthalls, a Hasidic family, ask Henry to take the case. As it turns out, the married Levi was having an affair with a non-Hassidic woman. Meanwhile, Rebecca, the former mayor’s spoiled daughter, is arrested for marijuana possession. She skilfully exploits her father’s position, but in court she reaches her limits.
