Blue and white triumph in their third preseason game (2-0) | Radio Club Tenerife | Present

Third and last game for CD Tenerife during their stage at Pinatar Arena. The Tenerife footballers put into practice the ideas and concepts they trained during the first two weeks of preseason on the pitch. Fran Fernández modified the starting eleven again, giving the alternative to new players. The blue and white coach thus distributed minutes among all the players called, with the exception of Borja Lasso and Carlos Ruiz, who continue with their respective recovery processes.

CD Tenerife was compact with the ball against FC Cartagena. The island players worked on pressure and possession of the ball, against a rival who did not make things easy for Tenerife.

Emmanuel Apeh headed between the defenders, at the hands of the goalkeeper, the center from Suso Santana’s wing (12 ‘). The blue and white captain himself tried it on the next play, crashing his shot into the body of a Cartagena defender (13 ‘).

The home team responded with a quick counterattack from their own field, although they met with the excellent intervention of Dani Hernández with a changed hand (17 ‘). The first forty-five minutes ended with a lot of equality between both teams but without danger for both goals (0-0).

CD Tenerife came out better in the second half, turning to attack in search of the goal and it would not be long in coming. Thirty seconds had passed when Emmanuel Apeh avoided the white defender with a first control inside the area. With subtlety, and also at the first touch, he deceived the local goalkeeper to overtake the Blue and Whites (0-1, 46 ‘).

Ibrahima tried his luck from the edge of the area after faking and leaving an opponent behind, but his hit found no goal (49 ‘). Nahuel Leiva did put the FC Cartagena goalkeeper in trouble with a direct free kick, forcing Marc Martínez to intervene with a powerful shot (50 ‘).

Dani Hernández responded with great confidence in the next local danger action, stopping Simón Moreno’s whip with a nice technical gesture (51 ‘). Iker Undabarrena was able to increase Tenerife’s advantage, but his shot was deflected by the rival goalkeeper (70 ‘).

The VAR acted by reviewing a play within the area. The referee decreed a penalty in favor of the Tenerife team. Suso Santana launched and deceived the Carthaginian goal (0-2, 79 ‘). Fran Fernández took advantage of the last moments of the game and made new changes after an intense week of preparation.

The blue and white expedition returns to Tenerife this Monday after its positive stay in San Pedro del Pinatar. Heliodoro Rodríguez López will host next Friday the last test of the preseason, against UD Las Palmas
