Blue jackets, classic line, blue or gray ties, skirts below the knee, a small flag of Italy on the lapel of the jacket. It’s new uniforms of ITA Airways and bear the signature of the stylist Brunello Cucinelli. The new uniforms will enter service on the entire fleet gradually over the next few months, explains the company in a note, specifying that this gradualness is intended precisely in order not to waste money by managing the fine stock of the old uniforms and thus making the operation neutral with respect to to the accounts of the company.
“The idea of this stylistic consultancy with ITA Airways certainly stems from a common vocation, that of transferring the style of beautiful Italian dressing through the uniforms of the crew”, comments Brunello Cucinelli, who wanted to “represent a recognized Italy internationally as the cradle of a culture inspired by beauty, art and traditions. This is also thanks to the great contribution of the high quality national medium-sized enterprises that will produce them, thanks to this new idea developed together with ITA Airways ».
The men’s uniform consists of a slim fitting jacket and trousers suit with a one-and-a-half-breasted jacket, gray vest, blue or gray tie. For the woman, both a jacket and trousers match set and the usual combination with a skirt, gray vest and blue or beige scarf, as well as gloves, bag and scarf were chosen. The entire path, which led to Cucinelli’s stylistic consultancy for the new uniforms – explains the company – was guided by sustainability and made in Italy, with a project that had concrete implications for the Italian production system: the designer, driven exclusively by the passion of this project, without any economic return – explains the note -, he gave his stylistic contribution to the creative development of the models. Once these models have been defined, they will then be produced and built by numerous medium-sized Italian companies – it is added – as evidence of ITA Airways’ attention to the country system.
