Blue Air now only has two very old Boeing 737-500s. Therefore, the chances that Romanians will ever resume flight operations, even if not yet officially finished, decrease. Until the beginning of September, Blue Air flew to Brussels and Schiphol, among others. Other companies have now partially filled this gap. For example, the Moldovan HiSky will start a regular service between Brussels and Bucharest in November.
The five 737-800s that will go to Transavia in the coming weeks will receive PH-HBJ, -HBK, -HBL, -HBM and -HBN registrations. They are all around 12 years old, in the past they have flown not only for Blue Air but also for the Turkish Pegasus, and are mainly used by Transavia to replace 737-700s. Over time, these five aircraft will also be replaced by the new Airbus A320neos and A321neos that Transavia has ordered and will be delivered starting next year.
