Blu-ray player broken after update: Samsung responds

A few weeks ago, numerous Blu-ray players from Samsung around the world suddenly failed (the futurezone reported). The devices restart every few seconds and no longer respond to entries. The fault was probably a faulty update that sent the devices into a boot loop loop.

Samsung now offers affected customers a solution for the broken devices – at least for customers outside Austria, the program is already running.

No bill

So it says in corresponding forum: “We can now offer you a solution for the Blu-ray players of the HT / BD series with a boot loop loop and have simplified the submission process.” No invoice is requested, only model and serial number.

Customers from Germany can this website Print a shipping label to send your device in for repair. So far, however, this has not been possible for Austrian customers. The forum said on Friday that it was working on setting up a process for customers from Austria. Accordingly, it should be available “soon”.
