Since leaving Cleveland in 2020, Tristan Thompson chain franchises: a short season with the Celtics, then a change to the Kings last August, before packing his bags for Indianapolis a few days ago. Integrated in the trade for Domantas SabonisThompson joined the Pacers along with Tyrese Haliburton and Buddy Held. But, unlike the other two Kings, his presence in the Indiana reconstruction project was a stain. After only 4 short games with his new team, TT going to be cut in the next few hours. Information given by the coach Rick Carlisle himself in press conference after the victory against the Wizards:
We thanked him for what he has contributed over the past six or seven days. He brought a high level of professionalism and he did a very good job. I don’t mind announcing it because it’s coming. There’s nothing wrong with telling the truth. It’s a rare case where you can thank a guy in the presence of his teammates. And those guys have a lot of respect for who he is and what he’s accomplished in the league.
For his last with the Pacers, the Canadian had taken out the warm-up blue with 17 points (8/9 on shots) and 6 rebounds in 21 minutes. Professional in all circumstances. But, soon to be 31, Thompson has more place in a contender to bring his playoff experience. According to the insider Shams Charania, this is the scenario towards which we are heading, since the former NBA champion is preparing to sign with the Bulls, once the waiver deadline has passed. Chicago will have to kick a player before, Windy City already having 15 members in its roster. A very good pick for the Bulls who were a bit tight in the rotations inside behind Nikola Vucevic. With 6.0 points and 5.2 rebounds this season, Thompson will be an added value in the Chicagoans’ playoff campaign.
