Blora Health Service Intensifies Polio Vaccine Immunization for 88,890 Children

BLORA, Bojonegoro Radar – Blora Health Service (Dinkes) is intensifying polio vaccine immunization. This will be carried out from 15 to 19 February. The target is as many as 88,890 children to receive polio drops vaccine to avoid polio virus (Acute Flaccid Poralysis).

Head of the Blora Health Office, Edi Widayat, S.Pd, M.Kes., MH, said that immunization would be carried out in two stages. The first phase starts January 15, 2024, and the second phase starts February 19, 2024.

“In order to prevent the spread of polio, the Polio Sub PIN for three provinces, namely Central Java, DIY and East Java, is required to provide polio immunization,” he said.

This action was taken because polio cases were discovered in Klaten and Pamekasan. The party targets this immunization for children aged 0-7 years, regardless of previous vaccination status. Sub PIN Polio will be given orally (mouth) using the Noval vaccine Oral Polio Vaccine Type 2 (nOPV2).

“In the Regency, the target is around 88,309 with the need for two rounds of vaccine, 4,168 vials,” he explained.

Edy hopes that immunization will reduce the risk of polio spreading or extraordinary events (KLB). With a target participation rate of up to 95 percent, it will build the immunity of young children so they are not infected with diseases that can cause paralysis and attack the nerves.

He appealed to the public not to panic. However, the Head of the Health Office, Edy, asked residents to continue implementing clean and healthy living (PHBS). No open defecation, washing hands before eating, and polio immunization. Complete basic immunization is provided by the government and is free.

Regent Arief Rohman emphasized that immunization for the polio Sub PIN is free. For this reason, he asked for active participation from the people of Blora Regency. Parents simply need to take their children to the Puskesmas/Subsidiary Health Center, Posyandu, TK/PAUD/SD/MI, and other immunization posts under the coordination of the Puskesmas.

“God willing, with our active role in eradicating polio, we will form the next generation of Blora who is healthy and strong to support development in Blora Regency,” he added. (luk/*)
