Bloomberg: Apple still working on Apple Watch SE smartwatch with colorful plastic case

Currently, the Apple Watch SE smartwatch (or rather its case) is made of aluminum, but a few months ago, rumors suggested that Apple wanted to change its design and materials. So far, these plans have not come to fruition.

Here’s what we know

As Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports, an updated Apple Watch SE with a plastic case is still in development as of this writing. It’s rumored to be a brightly colored watch, primarily aimed at kids.

Apple apparently ran into cost and quality issues in switching from aluminum to plastic, according to Mark Gurman. But he believes the project is still moving forward.

The plastic Apple Watch SE is expected to be released next year. The current model costs $249, and the new version is expected to be more affordable thanks to the use of cheaper materials.
