Police were called at 1:10 a.m. this morning following reports of a shooting near Turnpike Lane.
A man was found shot and wounded at the scene.
Despite the efforts of emergency services, he later died of his injuries at 1:55 a.m.
A crime scene remains in place in the area and police are now asking the public to provide information on the incident.
A statement read: “Police were called at approximately 1:10 am on Friday May 28 to report a gun dump in the vicinity of Turnpike Lane and Willoughby Road, N8.
“The officers, the London ambulance service and the London air ambulance all witnessed the scene.
“A man, believed to be 20, was found shot and wounded. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:55 a.m.
“The next of kin have been informed.
“A crime scene remains in place at the scene.
“There have been no arrests and investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.
“At this early stage, anyone with information that can assist with the investigation is urged to contact police on 101 or tweet @MetCC, quoting CAD356 / 28May.
