Emma Raducanu won the US Open women’s final at Flushing Meadows on Saturday, beating Canada’s Leylah Fernandez in straight sets (6-4 6-3). The Briton (18) takes her first major title, and even her first title, for her second participation only in a Grand Slam tournament. She becomes the first, men and women alike, to lift the trophy from qualifying. In all, Emma Raducanu will have played ten games (including two against the Swiss, Stefanie Vögele in the first main round and Belinda Bencic in the quarter-finals) without losing a set.
