PROKAL.CO,
BANJARMASIN – Even though you already have a blood plasma device, it doesn’t mean that the treatment for Covid-19 in South Kalimantan is running optimally. The obstacle lies in the reluctance of recovered patients to donate blood.
“We only optimize newly recovered patients who are still in the hospital. That is not much that can be used, “said Acting Director of RSUD Ulin Banjarmasin, Izaak Zoelkarnain yesterday.
Izaak explained that until yesterday he only got three bags of blood from a recovered Covid-19 patient. “The newest we got from one of the nurses whose blood met the requirements,” he explained.
Indeed, to get proper blood to be transfused into Covid-19 patients is not arbitrary. Not only does the donor have other viruses in his body, his blood size must meet the requirements. “Of the 12 people, we only get three people,” said Izaak.
Meanwhile, the average Covid-19 patient has other symptoms. From those with pneumonia, hypertension to diabetes. “We hope that those who have recovered can donate their blood, we have also contacted them,” he said.
To note, 400 cc of blood from a recovered Covid-19 patient can be used. The blood plasma was then donated to two Covid-19 patients. (mof / ran / ema)
