An initiative launched by the Young Economic Chamber of Sète and the Thau Basin to mobilize businesses and their employees around blood donation.
“Do you need a certificate for your employer?” At the entrance to the Brassens room, Amélie Ayats welcomes people who have come to donate blood as part of the Blood for Blood Challenge implemented by the Young Economic Chamber of Sète and the Thau Basin of which she is commission director. An initiative aimed at mobilizing local businesses and their employees around blood donation with a trophy presentation. This Thursday, October 31, was organized, with the French Blood Establishment (EFS), the first of the three planned collection days (the following two being scheduled for November 28 and December 26). Around thirty employees from participating companies were expected to be present.
“Exceeding a hundred donors”
“It’s very positive, there has been quite a bit of mobilization from businesses and communities. Around fifty people from Sète and the Thau basin have registered. We don’t yet have any visibility for the next collections but we would like to exceed a hundred donors”indicates Amélie Ayats. And to point out that the first registrants of the afternoon were giving for the first time. “This will allow us to register them in our software and ask them for future collections. They can become potential regular donors”greets Cédric Franchomme, EFS reception agent.
Attentive to the instructions given by the nurse, Baptiste has just finished his donation, the first. The young man works for the Pont-Neuf garage. “The bosses talked to us about it and I said to myself that it could help people”simply summarizes Baptiste, released by his employer this Thursday afternoon to participate in the challenge. Clementine also had special leave of absence. “I didn’t give for a very long time and then all the conditions were met”indicates this employee of the City of Sète. And to add: “When my mother was young, she had a serious car accident and survived thanks to a blood donation. It’s a bit of gratitude on my part.”
