A woman was hit by a stray bullet that entered her Brooklyn home early yesterday morning. confirming the armed violence that the city is experiencing.

The unidentified victim was in his first-floor apartment on Troy Avenue near Dean Street around 1:20 a.m. yesterday when gunshots suddenly rang through the neighborhood and realized she had been shot in the hand, her husband told the New York Post.

The 37-year-old woman’s husband described It was as if his hand “exploded” when he was shot in a surprising random crime incident that he believes city officials should have prevented.

“She was just screaming, ‘Oh my God, I feel like my hand exploded,'” said husband Jamal, who declined to give his last name. “There was blood everywhere.”

At the time, Jamal was on the couch after falling asleep while watching Netflix, while the couple’s three young children stayed overnight in his room.

A bullet fired from the street went through the couple’s bedroom window, hitting the woman in the hand and then a dresser before it got stuck in the wall, Jamal explained. He added that he “has no idea” how the shooting happened, but now his wife will have to undergo surgery in hand next week.

“His hand is fractured, the bones are fractured. They are both split,” she said. “She is fine. She is fine,” she added.

When asked what he wants the NYPD and Mayor Eric Adams to do about gun violence, Jamal kept it simple: “Just do your job.”

Neighbors were shocked to learn of the incident. “This can happen to anyone”, said a person who heard the shot and declined to give his name. “It’s scary that this happens when you’re sleeping… If it’s not targeted, it’s very scary.”
