“Blood Drive in Karaez Park Carhaix Room: EFS of Brest’s Last Collection – 60 Slots Available”

This Monday, April 24, 2023, the Karaez Park Carhaix room hosted a new blood drive. Seven volunteers from the Carhaix Volunteer Blood Donation Association were mobilized to organize this collection, alongside the staff of the French Blood Establishment in Brest. It is also, this week, the very last collection provided by the EFS of Brest. “From the next collection, it is the EFS of Quimper which will move to Carhaix”, advises Patrick Joniaux, president of the Amicale du don de sang de Carhaix and its region. As a result, collections will begin earlier, from 9 a.m.

About sixty slots available this Tuesday

In this first half-day of fundraising, the mobilization turned out to be relatively good. “There were only about forty slots left to take at the start of the morning, and they were taken, for the most part, by people who moved spontaneously,” he adds. For the second half-day, this Tuesday, from 9:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., there are still around sixty slots to be taken. “The needs are constant as the summer period approaches”, recalls Patrick Joniaux.

To donate blood, you must be between 18 and 70 years old and weigh at least 50 kg, feel in good health, and not show symptoms of Covid. An identity document is compulsory for each donor, who must not come on an empty stomach.
