A forecast of 33 blood donors had been made for the mobile blood drive organized on Tuesday, August 20, by the French Blood Establishment (EFS). Twenty-nine people showed up at the village hall and 28 were given blood. There were no new donors. At around 4:40 p.m., while the drive had started at 3 p.m., there had only been twelve donors.
“Stocks have been falling for three weeks. We don’t know the reason, except to consider that it is a holiday period, with what this may imply in terms of absenteeism on the part of donors who must absolutely remobilize in order to increase stocks,” commented Dr. Peggy Cygler, departmental head of blood collection at the EFS, adding that it is still possible to donate blood at the fixed site in Chaumont, 35, avenue des Etats-Unis, whose usual opening times are Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., tel. 03.25.35.36.30 and that a person wishing to donate blood can also make an appointment. via the link: https://mon-rdv-dondesang.efs.sante.fr
As always, volunteers from the association for voluntary blood donation in the Rognon Valley (former cantons of Andelot, Doulaincourt and Saint-Blin) were on hand to serve the snack immediately after the donation.
The next mobile blood drive in the area has been scheduled at the Andelot community center on Tuesday, October 22, again from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
