Blood donors are honored

Mayor Jochen Weber was impressed at the honoring evening for the blood donors of the greater community of Michelau by the great commitment of those present, who over the past three years have repeatedly been willing to donate blood and thus save lives. He was able to welcome 27 donors and the assistants.

Stephen Bauersachs spoke to the guests on behalf of Red Cross Managing Director Thomas Petrak. He warmly congratulated the donors on their anniversaries, including donors who had their lifeblood tapped off for the 100th, 150th and even 175th time. “A good deed that saves lives,” Bauersachs described her commitment. One is urgently dependent on these donations, especially in this day and age, not only in the case of accidents, but also for the treatment of many types of cancer.

In Bavaria alone, 2,000 blood units are needed every day. The district of Lichtenfels and Michelau received particular praise. With a rate of twelve percent, the district is in second place in terms of willingness to donate. “A lot of Franconian blood also flows to Upper Bavaria,” said the deputy managing director with a wink.

Dependent on the solidarity of donors

According to Bauersachs, donating blood is one of the most important tasks of the Red Cross. The system is dependent on the solidarity of the donors. “There is no substitute for human blood,” he explained. The top position in the district is a sign that people like to donate blood here. For this he expressed his heartfelt thanks.

Then he presented the honors together with the mayor and Rosemarie Göhring from the RK board. The following were honored for 50 donations: Michael Fischer, Dorothea Skotnica, Ingrid Schu-berth, Margit Fischer, Udo Krappweis and Jürgen Fleischmann. Petra Düsel, Silke Bähr, Andrea Groh, Katja Leikheim, Marion Lochmann, Karola Schäfer, Oskar Jung, Udo Mack and Martin Fiedler donated 75 times. Claudia Dresel, Sabine Bernecker, Jens Fischer and Thomas Spitzenpfeil were there 100 times.

Katharina Holland and Jochen Schnapp are celebrating 125 donations. Heinz Fischer and Karlheinz Herold donated blood 150 times.

Gerhard Lutter, Matthias Lutter and Adelbert Unrein were honored for a whopping 175 donations. hf
