blood donations down slightly

With 329 donors and despite 19 new ones in 2024, spread over four collections, blood donations are down slightly: – 86 donors this year. A disappointing constant, given the efforts made in terms of communication, drawn up on Friday November 22 at the Le Calmos bar where the general assembly of the Association for voluntary blood donation (ADSB) of Tartas and its surroundings took place, by the secretary, Marie-José Mesplède and her assistant, Xavier de Zanet.

The cancellation of the August 23 collection is not unrelated, which made the president, Philippe Brazeilles, warned at the last moment, come off his hinges. On the EFS side, its representative, Bénédicte Ostre, cited a lack of personnel. Another complaint about nurses, sometimes in insufficient numbers, which delays appointments: “During a collection, a donor who arrived at 6:30 p.m. was not released until 8:30 p.m. What is discouraging! » regrets Philippe Brazeilles. Who also said he was disappointed by the lack of involvement of athletes, both individually and through their associations.

World Day in June

For the mayor, Jean-François Broquères, himself a donor, we must continue the educational work. Dominique Degos, vice-president of the Departmental Council and member of the association, sees it as a reflection of an increasingly individualistic society. “Donating blood is giving a little bit of yourself and each donor is an everyday hero,” he stressed. The departmental president, Gilbert Donnet, urged the association not to give up, especially since in 2025, Tartas was chosen to organize World Blood Donor Day by the EFSL Nouvelle-Aquitaine, for Landes: it will be Saturday June 14.

For the rest, the ADSB of Tartas participated in the animation of local life through the Forum of associations in September, and by organizing a gourmet walk on May 9. The financial report presented by Françoise Campistron is positive at €537.50. A big thank you to the municipalities, in particular that of Tartas, for their subsidies and to the CE of La Papète, represented by Paul Bracq, who lends its premises on the front of the Elie Lacroix stadium and pays a subsidy.
