A video posted by a young Venezuelan woman on her “X” account, where she reported that she was unable to donate blood at the Posta Central, gave an account of a situation that exists in Chile in relation to this type of donation.
“Venezuelans are denied the right to donate blood in Chile. “We need eight blood donors at the Posta Central for my cousin and they have to be Chilean by order of the Ministry of Health (Minsal),” the woman said on the social network.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Health has a very strict protocol for blood donations, which prevents some foreigners, and Chileans who have been abroad, from carrying out the action.
This regulation states that people who have been in countries where there is a risk of transmission of diseases such as Zika virus, chikungunya, dengue, yellow fever, Ebola and West Nile fever.
WHAT ARE THE GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR DONATING BLOOD IN CHILE?
– Be between 17 and 60 years old. Those over 65 years old must have donated blood in the last 12 months. Donors who are 17 years old must be accompanied by their legal guardian, who must complete a consent form and present their identity card.
– Weigh more than 50 kilos.
– Be in good health (without any known illness).
– Not being pregnant.
– Not having had hepatitis after age 12.
– Do not fast.
– Not having consumed alcohol or marijuana in the last 12 hours.
– More than 3 months (in the case of men) and 4 months (in the case of women) must have passed since your last blood donation.
