The stock of blood and platelets is very low, road accidents often requiring increased blood transfusions and the EFS (French Blood Establishment), below the alert threshold while 10,000 donations are needed to relieve 1,000,000 sick per year. In Occitania the needs are 1,000 bags of blood per day. Knowing that the components of this saving liquid have a limited lifespan: 7 days for platelets and 20 days for red blood cells, we understand how important it is to have a substantial and renewable stock of different blood groups. This is why the EFS, through the FFDSB (French Federation of Volunteer Blood Donation), calls on everyone’s generosity to be able to meet the demands of the medical profession. And is aimed more particularly at young people, because even if they start to get more involved every day, the next generation must be quickly assured. Indeed, many loyal donors reaching the age limit (70 years) are forced to stop. The volunteers of the local FFDSB committee will work with the doctors and nurses this Friday 19 November multipurpose room to warmly welcome all those who, feeling concerned, want to get involved in this act of solidarity. Giving blood is a civic, generous, voluntary and united act, a simple and easy way to help save lives without having to loose money. All you have to do is lend a few minutes of your day. Small minutes that will bring wonderful benefits for everyone.
