My Blood for Others, Rotary’s largest collection in Europe, is organized at the Opéra Comédie de Montpellier on Friday April 22 and Saturday April 23, 2022 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., without appointment.
During these two days, members of the 10 Rotary clubs in the Montpellier region, Inner Wheel (spouses of Rotarians) and Rotaract (young people) and the EFS teams will join forces to set up an exceptional collection !
At the end of the donation, an improved and tasty snack is offered by the members of Rotary.
Blood supplies reached a particularly critical level at the start of the year and the French Blood Establishment had to warn once again about this situation, which requires a massive mobilization of citizens over the coming months.
Today in Occitania, the needs amount to 1,500 blood donations per day, including 200 for the department of Hérault. Blood products have a short lifespan (42 days for red blood cells and 7 days for platelets). Men can give up to 6 times a year and women up to 4 times a year, respecting, all of them, a period of 2 months between each donation.
The EFS and all of its employees are determined more than ever, thanks to the mobilization of blood donors, volunteer associations and clinicians, to guarantee France’s self-sufficiency in terms of blood products in order to continue to so that each patient can have the blood bag they need for treatment.
This large collection over 2 days therefore aims to raise awareness in Montpellier about the importance of blood donation and to collect a large number of blood bags.
