The big blood donation marathon is taking place in Lennep today. Together with the DRK and RGA, we from Radio RSG call for blood donations. Donations can be made in the Hackenberg sports hall between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. If you want to donate blood, you have to book an appointment in advance. You can find a link to register at RadioRSG.de. Even those who have recently been vaccinated against Corona can donate blood one day later. The blood is not tested for corona – according to the RKI, the disease cannot be transmitted via a blood transfusion. The flood disaster has currently exacerbated the shortage of blood reserves. There is currently no infrastructure to donate blood in the affected areas. However, the need remains high.

More information is available here.
By the way: apart from the marathon, there are always regular blood donation appointments in RSG-Land. On Wednesday, for example, in the Clemenssaal in Solingen between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
What happens when I donate blood?
Anyone wishing to donate blood must be at least 18 years old and feel healthy. First-time donors can donate blood up to the age of 68. The maximum donor age for multiple donors is an age of 75 years (ie up to one day before the 76th birthday). Please bring your ID card with you to the blood donation appointment. Before donating blood, body temperature, pulse, blood pressure and the blood pigment level are checked. After the donation, tests for infectious diseases are carried out in the laboratory of the blood donation service. The actual blood donation takes about five to ten minutes. Since the snack does not currently take place after the blood donation (corona protection concept), the Red Cross gives out packed lunches to strengthen them.
