A new blood drive was held on Wednesday, August 7 at the Michaux hall in L’Aigle (Orne). Between 2 and 6 p.m., 112 donors showed up, including sixteen people who came to give blood for the first time.
A big thank you
A very good collection which pleases Christian Cauchois, President of the Association of Volunteer Blood Donors of L’Aigle. “The members of the association and I extend a big thank you to all these people.”
It must be said that the July collection was quite mixed with only 69 donors, the president deplored “a very small collection”. He had called on everyone to come and give blood to save lives.
Next collection on September 4th
This call for solidarity has been well heard.
It’s a beautiful gesture. There is nothing more beautiful than giving a little of your time and a little blood to save or heal people who need it.
Christian Cauchois
Every year, one million people are treated thanks to blood donations. So don’t hesitate, the next appointment is on September 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., still at the Michaux Hall.

Conditions for donating blood
To continue on this good path and give blood, you just need to be between 18 and 70 years old or 65 years old for a plasma or platelet donation, weigh at least 50 kilos and have an ID with a photo.
To donate blood and save lives, all you need is an hour of your time.
How does a blood donation take place?
The procedure takes place in several stages. First, you are welcomed by a member of the association, usually Christian Cauchois, who gives you a questionnaire to prepare for the interview prior to the donation and carries out the administrative formalities with you.
Then a doctor or nurse will talk to you and make sure you are able to donate blood.
Then comes the donation stage where your blood is collected using sterile, single-use equipment.
If you are a new donor, or if your last donation was more than two years ago, a test is done to measure your hemoglobin level to detect possible anemia. Then, after the effort comes the comfort.
A short break to eat
You should take a 20-minute break to hydrate and eat. The perfect time to meet the teams of volunteers who are involved collection after collection.
The L’Aigle team is also expecting many of you for the next collection. You can make an appointment on the EFS website or come directly to the collection.
