Those who donate blood for the first time often have many questions.
–
How does blood donation work?
–
What is actually happening to me?
–
Can donating blood harm my health?
–
–
First things first:
There is no risk of infection when donating blood and it does not harm your health, but rather promotes it.
But above all: a blood donation can be vital for another person’s life!
Duration and procedure:
The blood donation itself only takes a few minutes. With the recording of the donor data, your registration, the medical examination and the recovery phase after the donation, a total of about one hour must be expected.
Who can donate blood?
The prerequisite for donating blood is that you feel healthy. For the first time you can donate blood between your 18th and your 65th birthday. If all of these apply to you, don’t hesitate any longer – every donation counts!
After donating blood:
Take some rest after your donation, drink a lot – non-alcoholic – and have something to eat. We will cater for you free of charge for your donation.
–
Your blood will be examined in our laboratories after it has been drawn. If there are any conspicuous findings that could be an indication of illness, you will be informed immediately by us.
