On Tuesday, July 12 in the afternoon, the French blood establishment organized a collection at the cultural center of Aguessac for donors from the valley as well as those from Millavois.
At the entrance, the volunteers are registered and receive a preliminary questionnaire which will then be used by the doctor who will receive them. The interview will make it possible to determine the ability to donate as well as the quantity of blood that can be collected according to the person’s biometric criteria.
In a particularly calm atmosphere, a young donor, Victor settles on the collection station without apprehension since he indicates that it is the second time that he has made a donation. The nurse tells him how the operation will take place as well as the quantity of blood taken (450 ml). This will take between 8 and 10 minutes.
Then, a small snack and a drink will be served to him followed by a rest period of 20 minutes.
Finally, each donor receives a post-donation telephone number that will allow them to call in the event of a problem or if an illness occurs within eight days.
Isabelle Paradis, doctor, expressed her satisfaction to see that already 30 donors had presented themselves after 2 hours. She said it was urgent to “inflate” stocks before the holidays and that the EFS (French blood establishment) multiplied collection points as close as possible to donors in order to avoid long journeys.
