Blood donation: collection on the rise

Donating blood is giving a part of yourself to save lives. In Ancerville, 53 donors, including two new ones, understood this well. They showed up at the collection organized by the French Blood Establishment (EFS) from Nancy, Thursday October 24. This is the best result recorded since the start of the year. Led by Dr Marie-Odile Marc, a team of five nurses took over from the receptionist to offer donors comfort and reassurance if necessary. Gauthier, a 20-year-old from Ancervillo, did not need it for his very first donation. He follows in the footsteps of his grandmother who donated blood for many years. Marie-Odile Marc was delighted with this result: “Here donations are on the rise, but we cannot declare victory because, despite our numerous appeals in the media, we are having difficulty replenishing stocks. Indeed, not all pre-Covid donors have returned. The pandemic has undoubtedly given pride of place to individualism.”

The volunteers welcomed with their usual good humor the people relieved of some 400 ml of blood to give them something to recover.

  • First essential step, complete the health questionnaire.

  • If one arm is not suitable, we take from the other.

  • Gauthier, who followed his grandmother’s example, donated blood for the first time.
