On Wednesday, August 10, from 3 to 7 p.m., a blood donation campaign will take place in the Evangelisches Gemeindehaus, Duisburger Strasse 276, Mülheim an der Ruhr.
Blood donations are particularly important in summer, so every donation counts. The need for blood donation doesn’t take a summer break – unlike many people who vacation during the summer months. But other factors, such as sweltering heat or leisure activities in summer, also have an extremely negative effect on the entire blood donation system.
Important replenishment of donated blood
Chronically ill and cancer patients in particular are in urgent need of a continuous supply of blood preparations – many need thrombocytes (blood platelets) from the blood donation, but these only have a shelf life of four days. The hospitals are therefore unable to stock up, which is why the continuous supply of donated blood is so important. The Red Cross is therefore asking you to donate blood in the summer as well, because the sum total depends on each individual.
- Even when the outside temperature is high, donating blood is well tolerated. The DRK recommends making sure that you drink enough fluids before and after donating blood.
- We ask that you reserve an appointment in advance at www.blutspende.jetzt.
- Masks are compulsory.
