Since the start of the health crisis, the French Blood Establishment and the local associations that organize the logistics of blood collection sessions have been organized differently, but that does not mean that it is counterproductive, on the contrary. Alain Van Lerenberghe is the president of the association for blood donation in the Bigouden region. He explains: “The appointment system is more than satisfactory. This helps to avoid long waits and to regulate flows. Sampling teams and donors benefit from this, especially since we have not noticed a drop in attendance. This also allows the volunteers to take better care of the donors for the reception and for the snack ”.
Consistency, not number
He continues: “We are looking for consistency, not necessarily numbers. If each donor can come two or three times a year, that would be perfect ”. Thursday afternoon, at the Halle Raphalen in Plonéour-Lanvern, 74 people who made an appointment came to donate blood. 60 were taken. The next collection in the Bigouden region will take place on March 24 at Pont l’Abbé, at the Laennec gymnasium.
