Hockenheim. Blood donors save lives and give hope to fellow human beings, emphasizes the German Red Cross (DRK). The DRK blood donation service recognizes this achievement with the “We celebrate life” campaign. Up to and including November 30th, he is giving away an adventure weekend for two people in the Tripsdrill adventure park or in the Sinsheim-Speyer Technology Museum ten times among all blood donors, as well as two Cineplex cinema tickets 500 times.

Here’s how it works: Reserve your blood donation appointment online at www.blutspende.de/termine, donate blood and then take part in the raffle at www.blutspende.de/aktion-leben- Feiern. The next blood donation appointment in the region is on Tuesday, October 15th, from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in the Pestalozzi Hall, Rathausstrasse 3, in Hockenheim.
According to the DRK, around 15,000 blood donations are needed every day in Germany, based on a five-day week. Due to the limited shelf life, every blood donation counts, every day.
At the moment, the baby boomer generation is still the foundation for blood donations. But she will increasingly need donations herself. “That’s why we need more young people who are willing to donate blood consistently and regularly,” emphasizes DRK spokesman Martin Oesterer.
