“Blood can also flow”

The former professional boxer Regina Halmich agrees Entertainer Stefan Raab (57) is preparing for a tough boxing match against her. “It’s clear: I won’t hold back. Because Stefan will of course pull through. I know that from the last fights,” the 47-year-old told the German Press Agency. In other words: Raab has “no inhibitions about hitting.” She will act accordingly.

The former boxing world champion will face Raab in an exhibition fight in Düsseldorf on September 14. RTL will broadcast the spectacle live. It is a comeback on screen for the presenter. In 2015, he actually said goodbye to his viewers.

Halmich confirmed that there would be no agreements in boxing. “Blood can flow,” she said. “If someone is clumsy and touches the elbow, then a cut can quickly occur.” But that is “completely normal.” She can still box herself. “I can still bang. I can still hit back,” said Halmich. However, she now needs a little more rest afterwards than she used to.

Raab and Halmich have already met twice in the boxing ring – in 2001 and 2007. Halmich won both encounters. She broke Raab’s nose once. The third fight, however, is set to be the last. “This will really be the ‘final fight’, the last fight between the two of us. Otherwise, I don’t think it would have been called that,” said Halmich.
