Six-year-old Sophia Rothmann and her younger brother, Kilian, are abducted from their home in the middle of the night. The babysitter, Doreen Amlung, is seriously injured and dies on the spot before she can provide any clues about the perpetrators.
Captains Link and Strickle from Karlsruhe are tasked with investigating this difficult case. Every minute counts to find the children. The pressure mounts even higher when another murder, committed directly in the family’s entourage, leaves the agents perplexed. Is this barbaric and cruel act a warning from the kidnappers or is there something else hidden?
Many inconsistencies emerge during the investigation. The parents hide the truth from the police and the victim of the last murder does not seem as innocent as we think. Could the Rothmanns’ marital problems be at the origin of these tragic events or is it the excessive anger of a rejected person?
