BLOOD. Blood donation stabilizes in Matamoros.

Matamoros, Tam. – As it happens every year, only at Christmas and New Year did they fight to get blood donors, now fortunately there are up to 20 donors in a single day, said the director of the Blood Bank, Alejandro Lozano de la Vega.
He stressed that due to various circumstances they have rejected some of them, in addition to that the number of people who have been admitted to hospital has decreased.
Similarly, he commented that the most difficult type of blood to obtain is negative “O” but fortunately they are supported by the state blood bank, in such a way that if an emergency arises there is a way to overcome it.
Lozano de la Vega indicated that what is increasing are health protocols regardless of those established by the Official Mexican Standard.
He commented that they are placing special emphasis on those people who arrive with the intention of donating blood but who carry any symptoms of Covid-19. He clarified that the blood is not disposed of but is sent to Ciudad Victoria where it is checked and processed and later returned.
He mentioned that the impact of the Covid has been in the sense that people do not want to go to medical institutions to donate blood but those who go are given a brief confidential questionnaire where it is determined if they can be candidates to donate blood or not .
