Zapping But! Football Club RC Lens: the complete list of Blood and Gold
In its time, November 25, 1998, it was a hell of a thunderclap in the French football landscape. During the Champions League group stage, RC Lens won 1-0 on Wembley, against Arsenal, who relocated their matches because Highbury was too small. More than 10,000 blood and gold supporters had crossed the Channel to witness this first tricolor success in the temple of English football. It was then not the first French victory in perfidious Albion (Bastia, in 1977-78, had won at Newcastle) but certainly the most significant.
Alas, 24 years later, this sweet memory has completely faded! We want proof of this that when listing the French victories in England in the Champions League, just to give courage to LOSC which was going to challenge Chelsea, Canal+ completely forgot this mythical Arsenal-Lens! Proof, once too often, that France really has a short memory when it comes to the ball…
