Blood and bone marrow donation campaign to be held in Larroque this Saturday

The Municipality of Larroque reminds, through the Ministry of Health and Environmental Development, that this Saturday, May 20, a blood and bone marrow donation campaign will be carried out, jointly with the “San Isidro Labrador” Hospital, next to the Gualeguaychú Blood Bank.

Just like last year, professionals from the neighboring city’s bank will be in our city to carry out the campaign that consists of donating blood and registering for bone marrow donation.

“Those who wish, see the need and importance of donating blood, can go to our local hospital that day, to proceed with the corresponding extraction of potential donors,” explained Diego Ortolano, in charge of the Secretariat of Health and Environmental Development.

Bone marrow

“The novelty on this occasion is that the possibility is added for those who want to be bone marrow (BM) donors, to enroll in the same process or express their desire not to do so,” added the doctor. Adding “the donation of MO is important and it is not like another donation that an organ is removed, only blood is taken in the same way as the same blood donation and that is extremely important because there are many diseases of MO such as leukemia or some bone marrow dysplasias, where an OM transplant is needed and contrary to what people believe, in most cases, the relatives are not compatible and that must be clarified, because compatibility is not found in approximately 70% , which makes it even more important to resort to blood banks to be able to save the life of someone who is undergoing a medullary or proliferative or dysplastic process of the marrow ”.
