Blokker’s successor is approaching bankruptcy

In recent months, many questions have been asked about the takeover of Blokker, now Mega World, by the Dutch businessman Dirk Bron. He has a bad reputation in his home country and even has to be tried for fraud.

Two weeks ago the union ACV Plus filed a complaint against Bron. The public prosecutor’s office confirmed yesterday that an investigation was started into possible criminal offenses. It would be about forgery, forgery of financial statements and misuse of corporate assets.

On top of that news, Mega World got another hit yesterday. The corporate court in Mechelen will not protect the company against its creditors. This brings bankruptcy closer.

123 stores

Mega World, which only came into the hands of businessman Bron in February, has 123 stores and 670 employees. The company soon ran into financial difficulties. Director Rudy Claes said that the company has drawn up a recovery plan with a focus on cost control. But that plan was not realistic in court. It was assumed that the turnover would double, which would be very difficult due to the new corona measures and lockdown.

The court has appointed two provisional administrators. They will manage the company for the foreseeable future and will probably check whether all bankruptcy conditions have been met to file the books.

In The time Bron says he is appealing. “We have our documents ready ”, it sounds.
